Liability insurance
pays for damages caused by you if the accident is your fault. It will also pay for medical bills incurred by the other driver or their passengers. Maine requires drivers to have $50,000 of coverage for injuries per person, up to $100,000 per accident. It also requires $25,000 of coverage for property damage.
