How Term Life Insurance companies are rated
Every year, A.M. Best publishes its industry review, a fat red-bound book with analyses of every company in the industry. Many public libraries have copies. Best's most current rating information is also online at www.ambest.com/ratings.
For most people, the key benchmark is A.M. Best's Financial Strength Rating. This is based primarily on a company's ability to pay claims. Note that SelectQuote chooses companies that not only fall in Best's 'Secure' category but also in the two top tiers of that category.
The Top Three A.M. Best Financial Strength Ratings
| Secure | |
| A++ and A+ (Superior) |
Assigned to companies that have, in Best's opinion, a superior ability to meet their ongoing obligations to policyholders. |
| A and A- (Excellent) |
Assigned to companies that have, in Best's opinion, an excellent ability to meet their ongoing obligations to policyholders. |
| B++ and B+ (Very Good) |
Assigned to companies that have, in Best's opinion, a good ability to meet their ongoing obligations to policyholders. |
Every Term Life company SelectQuote represents is rated A- to A+. If you click on the icon of any of our companies, you'll go to a fact sheet that shows the company's A.M. Best financial strength rating.
The fact sheets are updated frequently, but for up-to-the-minute ratings information, please go to www.ambest.com/ratings.
